Sync Google Calendar with Outlook

This is no longer functional

Caregivers should use this guide to setup calendar syncing between Google and Outlook. After completion, Providence staff will be able to see your free/busy status based on events that you create and/or accept in your Google Calendar.

• Note: Caregivers must have access to Outlook in Providence My Apps in order to use this functionality.

View your Providence calendar events in Google Calendar

Note: Unlike the Outlook integration above, Google Calendar will not import free/busy status according to your Providence calendar events.

Note: By default, Google Calendar updates you Providence calendar feed information once every 24 hours.

Open Outlook from the Providence My Apps portal.

• Click the Settings gear icon in the top right corner

• Scroll to the bottom and click "View all Outlook settings"

• Select: Calendar > Shared calendars > Share a calendar

• Select a calendar and share it to your phtech.com email address. Be sure to set permissions to "Can view all details"

• Check your phtech.com email for the calendar invitation.

• In the email invitation, locate the line that reads: "Having trouble viewing the calendar? Try adding an Internet calendar and providing this URL."

• Right click on this URL > Copy link address

Open Google Calendar

• Select the + sign next to Other calendars on the left side.

• Select: From URL

• Paste in the ICS URL that you generated in Outlook

• Rename the newly subscribed "Calendar" to something more memorable, like "Providence Calendar"

You will now be able to view any calendar events that were created or accepted from your Providence account. (remember, these events only sync over to Google once every 24 hours)
