Providence MFA Options

This guide is to be used by caregivers to help them decide on which MFA option is best suited for them to log into their Providence accounts. Below are explanations of the three main options caregivers can choose from. Please read each option, and follow the instructions to setup the MFA option of your choice. You only need to setup one MFA option, but you do have the option of setting up a seconary MFA option as a backup.

Microsoft Authenticator (Recommended)

The Microsoft Authenicator is an app that you will download onto your phone. When you log into your Providence account, the Microsoft Authenticator will notify you on your phone to approve your sign in. This is a very similar process to Okta Verify. If you are interested in setting up the Microsoft Authenticator for your Providence account, click here to be taken to our separate Microsoft Authenticator Setup helpdoc.

Google Authenticator (instructions below)

Caregivers can use the Google Authenticator app that is already installed in their Google Chrome browser to log into their Providence account. When you log into your Providence account, you will be prompted to enter a 6-digit code from the Google Authenticator to login. For most caregivers, this is a very similar process to logging into Zendesk or Amazon Connect using the Google Authenticator. If you would like to setup the Google Authenticator to use with your Providence account, click here to be taken to the instructions in this helpdoc.

Text message code (instructions below)

The text message code option is just as it sounds. When you log into your Providence account, you will be sent a text message to your phone that will contain a 6-digit code. You will then enter that code where indicated, and you will be sucessfully logged in. If you are wanting to setup the Text message code for your Providence account, click here to be taken to the instructions in this helpdoc.
