Providence Microsoft Authenticator Setup (MFA)

Click here if you currently have MFA setup for Providence and would like to switch to the Microsoft Authenticator app.

New Employees:

When you first try to log into a Providence app that uses a Microsoft Office login (ie, HR Portal), you will be prompted to setup MFA in order to login. Service Desk recommends using the default option, Microsoft Authenticator, to setup MFA on your phone. This is a guide on how to set that up.

Once you log into a Providence app with the Microsoft Office login successfully, you will be prompted with the following screen. Click Next.

Start by downloading the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone. Click Next.

In the app, you will need to allow notifications. Then add an account, and select "Work or school". Click Next.

Use the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone to a pic of the QR code on your screen. It should look like the screenshot below. Then, click Next.

You will then receive a notification on your phone to confirm that the Microsoft Authenticator is set up correctly. Approve the notification. Then, click Next.

Once you receive a message that the notification was approved, click Next.

You've successfully set up MFA with the Microsof Authenticator!
